Jazz House Kids®
World-Class Initiative
Jazz House Kids brings music, mentoring
and education to hundreds of students each
year, teaching students to be lifelong learners,
communicators and innovators.
We believe all
children deserve access to a great education
in the arts!
In and Out of School Programs
Our programs in underserved communities help
close the gap in music education and place students
on a level playing field with their peers from other
communities.
The Jazz House
Based in Montclair, New Jersey, the "Jazz House"
provides classes and performance ensembles for
students 8 to 18, along with instrument and scholarship
support for 38 percent of our student body.
Inside the Jazz Note®
Our annual flagship masterclass for middle
and high school students hosted by Jazz House
Kids Artistic Chair and world-renowned bassist
Christian McBride, features today's jazz icons and
reflects our commitment to world-class performance
and mentorship.
Jazz Across the Curriculum®
We offer professional development for K-8
school teachers so they can use jazz as an
effective and exciting teaching tool.
Jazz House Kids Goes to College®
In partnership with The Juilliard School for Jazz
Studies, we offer an annual college fair to assist
students interested in attending music colleges
or conservatories.
Summer Jazz Workshop
Over two weeks, students receive direct instruction
from professional musicians to develop key
skills and enhance knowledge in fundamentals
of music and the art of performance.
Student Sessions Emerging Artist Performance Program
On the job training! We recently established a
monthly program to provide students with guidance
in repertoire development and live performance
opportunities in noted jazz clubs.
